THE SONGS THAT MOVE US
MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY
Hay girl – Hey!
I’m probably dating myself here, but do you remember "Casey Kasem's American Top 40"?
At the end of every show, in his ultra-smooth baritone voice, he would read the letter of a fan who had written in requesting a song for someone special far away. They would share the special significance of the song and he would play it.
Well, this is kind of like that, just on steroids.
These songs are our anthems. The songs that move us mentally and physically. We’re going to share the songs that serve as a reminder to dig in and find our inner strength. You write in and share YOUR song and what it means to you. Your long-distance dedication can motivate us all. This playlist will be as kickass as you all are!
Now that’s powerful!
Picking out the inaugural Long Distance Dedication was an easy choice for me, and I am so happy to share it with you all.
Not long after my fiancé passed, I was struggling with depression and lost in sadness. My daughter sent me a text.
"Hey, Mom, Listen to this. It makes me think of you.
Don’t give up. We love you."
The Song
"In My Blood" by Shawn Mendes Oh man… did the tears flow. I don’t know what Shawn was going through when he wrote that song, but buddy, it was spot on! I WAS overwhelmed and I literally felt like my skin was crawling. Everyone kept telling me it would get better and I DID wonder– would it ever? The words - "Sometimes I feel like giving up, But I just can’t – it isn’t in my blood"… That hit HARD. I must have listened to it 10-15 times in a row. I cried. I sobbed. Then I thought about the message she was sending me without having to say it: It’s ok to fall apart, to be sad, to cry. Feel all the things. You just can’t stay there- you’re not meant to. I had to make a deal with myself that even though I was still grieving, I had to live. I had to honor his life by living for the both of us. This song means so much to me and now I am dedicating it as my long-distance motivation to all of you! If you’ve been driving the struggle bus- listen to this one! So powerful! You can find it in our Spotify List.

THE POWER OF MUSIC
“Music does a lot of things for a lot of people. It’s transporting, for sure. It can take you right back, years back, to the very moment certain things happened in your life. It’s uplifting,
it’s encouraging, it’s strengthening.”
― Aretha Franklin
